What did everybody think about the ending? Which theory do you belive in?
This is my theory : "When I saw the ending for the first time I took it for that Big Whoop was something that grants wishes. And Guybrush says when the parents come in the dream that they left him, so obviously he would be scarred and be wanting to be with them so that is his wish.. But Chucky is still LeChuck back then hece the eye thing, so that is why the Big Whoop finders hid the Big Whoop map, because even though it grants wishes there was allways a catch
This may just be me over-analyzing the whole thing though." From my post in the LucasForums.

I think that the whole "I am your brother" thing is a lie, designed to trap him for enernity in the mind and body of a seven year old boy. It's all part of LeChuck's revenge. Big Whoop contains strong voodoo powers which can be manipulated. Either by Guybrush to protect him from LeChuck if he gets there first, or for LeChuck to trap Guybrush in his own mind if he gets there first. Unfortunately LeChuck got there first, so Guybrush got trapped.
As endings go, this is one of the most confusing and open to interpretation endings I have ever seen.

But you also see his parents perfectly alive and well in the amusement park afterwards.
I think that they were LeChuck's parents, not Guybrush's. I think that the whole thing was a trick. Were there any bones missing from the skeletons which were used in LeChuck's voodoo doll? I don't think there were.
Also, having just replayed the game, at the end, all questions were answered. It fades out from the carnival and back onto Elaine who is standing above the X. She says "What is taking Guybrush so long? I hope LeChuck hasn't put any spell or anyting on him". This, for me, makes it extremely clear that that's exactly what's happened.

It's plausable, and I was wondering about the Melee/Dinky Island link. There is also a very similar tunnel between Phatt Island and the island off the cost.

It is possible to wonder about things in MI without taking them too seriously.

That theory also explains about why the Men of Low Moaral Fibre (Pirates) appear in both games, but never have any recallection of Guybrush.

I think the writers made the whole thing up as they went along. They did not plan anything. The ending just don't make any sense at all.
